1cupself-rising flour(if you don't have self-rising flour, you can make your own by combining 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt)
1cupplain Greek yogurt(non-fat for lower calorie options, but full-fat Greek yogurt can also be used and offers a chewier and richer taste)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use a silicone baking mat.
In a bowl, combine the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Stir until a dough forms. It will be somewhat sticky but should come together.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about three to five minutes until smooth. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour but be cautious not to add too much. If you have kids, this is an especially fun part of the recipe for them to help with.
Divide the dough into four equal parts. Roll each part into a rope about 3/4 inch thick, then join the ends to form a bagel shape.
Place the shaped bagels on the prepared baking sheet. Brush them with an egg wash (1 egg beaten with a splash of water) for a golden color, and sprinkle with your favorite toppings like sesame seeds, poppy seeds or everything bagel seasoning if desired. But this isn't entirely necessary.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
Allow the bagels to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing. Eat 'em solo or topped with goodies like butter, cream cheese or whatever else you like on a bagel.
