“You’ve been iced” – The Awesome Way

Written by Vivianne

Have you been iced yet? Better watch your ass this long holiday weekend!

Here’s an excerpt from a recent article in Fortune Magazine explaining a hilarious meme going on in offices and homes all around America as I’m writing this:

“Icing” — or “getting iced” — is a drinking game that’s rapidly gaining popularity amongst office workers, tech and media types, and college students. The rules are simple: If a person sees a Smirnoff Ice, he or she must get down on one knee and chug it, unless they happen to be carrying their own Smirnoff, in which case they can “ice block,” or refract the punishment back onto the attacker. In order to dupe people into stumbling across the beverage, participants have devised creative ways of presenting them with Ices, like strapping the bottles to the backs of dogs or burying them in vats of protein powder.

Obviously, I’ve been out of the loop… until last night! 😉

Thanks to my dear friend Ashlea & her dog Luke aka LD for making my first “icing” a seriously awesome event. Hopefully this post will inspire all of y’all Luxury Spot readers to get creative with your pranks!

Here’s how it happened:

Turns out my man is actually a regular Smirnoff Ice drinker (#seriously: fast forward to 0:57 and watch his reaction to the trick as I’m laughing my ass off.) – and so it’s fair to say that Ashlea made a great first impression and that I am in a sweet position for future ice blocking or, even better, revenge!!!

MORAL OF THIS STORY IS: whether you’re hosting a party or being a guest on Fourth of July, make sure you keep a 6-pack of Smirnoff Ice handy wherever you go, or you may end up on the floor looking like this!

CHEERS!
