Finally cashmere sweaters with some undertones of iconic punk rock style. London born Bella Freud’s new collection of sweaters incudes prints of classic themes from the seventies in London. My two favorites have to be the Serge Gainsborg, and Jane Birkin sweater (our favorite French and British it couple from yesteryear) as well as my personal favorite, the classic black and white 1970 printed sweater.
Bella Fredu’s playful style expounds immaculate tailoring with a coquettish edge, ensuring her a cult following both in Britain and abroad. Bella’s much-loved knitwear pieces, all limited editions, are much sought after and are continually met with a surge of press excitement.
After training with Vivienne Westwood she launched her eponymous women’s wear label in 1990 comprising sexy knitted dresses and mini knit suits, high heeled shoes and bags. Bella Freud’s eponymous women’s wear label with her coveted knitwear pieces, all limited editions, are much sought after, ensuring her a cult following both in Britain and abroad.
Bella’s enduring success is a testament to her talent for creating timeless pieces with a characteristically playful appeal. Bella Freud’s strong fashion sense and charming idiosyncratic attitude to life are mirrored in every one of her designs. “My AW12 collection is inspired by photographs of old Vegas signs in neon graveyards in America. I am always interested in the meaning and the shape of words and I like the moodiness of these once brightly lit up letters and shapes, just hanging around together. The letters of the Glam jumper are outlined in fuchsia lurex and adorned with pewter studs, like the old light sockets. The Cherries jumper is what I imagine a casino waitress might be wearing. The Showgirl mini-dress in black cherry Cashwool has fringed epaulettes and a lurex stripe down the side of the body to emphasize the silhouette. For men I have revisited some of my favourite styles: Ginsberg, je t’aime Jane, 1970, Bowie and the Dog and reshaped them for a male body or to be worn boyfriend style”
