Yellow Whites of Eyes: 9 Easy Fixes

Written by andy

Yellow whites of eyes = probably the most annoying, but easy to solve beauty issue.

Overconsumption of alcohol is just one of the things that can put a strain on your liver, but liver disease has one curious side effect: it turns you yellow. Not only will your skin take on an unusually yellow color, but so will the whites of your eyes. Thankfully, jaundice (the yellowing of your skin and eyes) can be eliminated by increasing liver function!

Here are a few ways to fix the yellow whites of eyes by improving your liver health:

  • Drink tomato juice — Tomato juice is believed to be an effective liver stimulant, thanks to all the vitamins and antioxidants found in tomatoes. Drink a single glass of tomato juice every day, with a pinch of salt, pepper, and paprika for flavor. Have it every morning, and on an empty stomach!
  • Sweat out the toxins — Spend a few hours sitting in a sauna, and you’ll sweat a lot of toxins out of your body. Do this every 2 to 3 days for two weeks to improve liver function. Liver disease can reduce your liver’s ability to filter toxins from your blood, and the toxins can make things worse.
  • Drink barley “tea” –– Did you know that barley makes an effective liver detoxifier? Pour a cup of the grain into a few liters of water, bring the water to a boil, and let it simmer for about three hours on low heat. Drink the water throughout the day, and you’ll find that it will do wonders for your liver.
  • Juice radish leaves — While radishes are a very healthy veggie, it’s the leaves that will prove most effective at dealing with your yellow whites of eyes and skin. There are special compounds in the radish leaves that will regulate your bowel movements and appetite. Run the leaves through a juicer, and drink the juice produced. It will help to reduce liver disease and speed up healing!

  • Add lemon to your diet –– Lemon is one of the most potent detox foods on the planet, thanks to its high Vitamin C content. It can help to reduce inflammation (one of the side effects of liver disease) and restore your liver to proper function. Add more lemon to your diet in the form of lemon juice, lemon infused water, homemade lemonade, lemon peel, and lemon zest. The more the merrier!
  • Eat almonds –– Almonds are packed with healthy fats that bond with toxins in your body, preventing them from causing problems. Eat a few more almonds every day to speed up liver healing!
  • Drink chamomile tea –– Chamomile is a soothing tea that can help to reduce inflammation in your body. It will deal with the swelling in your liver, restoring the vital organ to proper function. Drink a cup or two of the tea every day until your jaundice clears up.
  • Try jaundice berry — There is actually a berry known as the “jaundice berry”, though its real name is berberis vultaris. You can find both juices and extracts of the berry, and both will be effective as a means of dealing with the liver disease that is causing your skin and the whites of your eyes to yellow.
  • Drink lots of water –– Your skin and eyes are yellow because of the excess bilirubin produced by your liver. Water can help to flush the bilirubin from your body, getting rid of the yellow tint to your skin and eyes.
