Hopefully this photo of a bobcat sitting on a 40-foot cactus will brighten your day.
I don’t know about you, but cactuses give me serious angina. I’m not even worried about the ones with huge, sharp, thorny barbs; it’s the little ones with the tiny hair-like spikes that will really fuck with you. Apparently bobcats have no such hang-ups however, because one of them straight up climbed a 40-foot cactus, and perched there for the internet to see.
The event happened on a Giant Saguaro Cactus in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona. Apparently the bobcat was trying to escape from a mountain lion, and climbed a 300-year-old, 40-foot cactus with two-inch spikes.

A photographer named Curt Fonger caught it all on film, and says that he thinks the bobcat probably infringed on the mountain lions territory or got too close to her cubs. The bobcat stayed up on the cactus for 6 hours before deciding it was safe to come down.
Even though I think this whole thing is kind of awesome, it pales in comparison to the guy who walks around Times Square with a cat perched on his head. If this bobcat ever decides to visit New York though, at least he knows he has a job waiting for him.
