A Roundup of Linda’s FNO 2010 HotSpots

My Fashion’s Night Out journey began with perusing the official FNO sight and choosing Lord and Taylor, Bergdorf Goodman, Gant’s and Calvin Klein as places I’d like to visit.  The first three on my list were in case my ADD kicked in and I became bored on one floor—new adventures would await me only a quick elevator ride away.

As for the last two…Well Gant’s promised nude male models and Calvin Klein promised rock icon Bryan Adams.

I started at 6pm on the 10th floor of Lord and Taylor with a Tommy Bahama rum and diet coke.   I then ventured down a couple of floors and had a glass of Stella Pinot Grigio.  Continued down just a bit had a glass of champagne and saw that a Jones NY Fashion show was about to get underway.  I asked someone when it was going to start. They replied, “In about ten minutes at 6:30.” OK, so that meant in the space of twenty minutes I had already consumed three drinks.  Time to slow down.  No more champagne till after the show.

That’s fine, I needed to eat anyway.  I mean if you didn’t count the piece of lobster sushi, the cookie, cupcake or brownie I had along with the different drinks I really hadn’t eaten anything. Thankfully, shrimp skewers were being passed around once the fashion show began.  The clothes were alright, but Jones New York style guy, Lloyd Boston, was hysterical.  I could have listened to him talk fashion for hours.

Show’s over, treated myself to one final glass of champagne and promised myself I’d move along.  What I didn’t anticipate was that Lord and Taylor would become like a lover who wouldn’t let you leave.  Each floor the escalator passed was filled with people roaming about with different shape glasses—that meant cocktails I hadn’t yet tried.  Still I stood firm and walked outside.  I hoped a breath of the cool night air would get me back on track, but I was wrong.  So many stores along Fifth Avenue had dance music blasting onto the street, amazing models in the windows and people inside drinking.

Nude male models, nude male models, nude male models.  It became my mantra as I passed through my own personal red light district filled with fashion, food and fun.  Finally I got to Gant’s.

He was hot.  He was wet, but I was thirsty again.  I couldn’t hold out any longer.  What were they drinking in Versace?

Pineapple Martini with coconut infused vodka—yum!

On to Bergdorf Goodman.  As I arrived, I was greeted by a long line with a velvet rope to get into the store.  They had to be kidding!  I have a problem waiting on line to get into a club no way I’m standing on a line to get into store.

I crossed the street and found myself in front of Bergdorf Goodman???  Uh, oh.  Were the drinks were finally catching up with me?   Nope—I was in front of Bergdorf Goodman’s Men’s Store.  And note to my single girl friends, while its sister store across the street was doing its best imitation of Plumm, when there was a Plumm, here there was no line, ping pong, free beer and a ton of hot guys.  Ok, so their girlfriends were probably across the street on line, but hey—if you snooze you lose!

Since I’m not single, nor an expert at ping pong and I really didn’t want to mix beer in the alcohol that was getting along surprisingly well in my stomach I headed east to Madison Avenue with my last goal in sight Bryan Adams.

Only to be pulled off track when I was almost upon it.  The Porsche Design Store had these fantastic dancers in the window.  They beckoned me in and a photographer there turned the tables.  While I was shooting the dancers, he was shooting some pics of me.  Haven’t seen those pics yet—but back to Bryan Adams.

Got to Calvin Klein at 8:25.  Saw an interesting undergarment display:

Was poured a glass of Sauvignon Blanc from a delish male model and a mere five minutes later, was treated to THIS:

Thank you to my friend Doug for the title of this blog, XOXO!
