Entertaining season is in full swing, and this slightly-sweet, slightly-spicy Chocolate Chai Martini recipe is one of the tastiest sips we’ve had in ages. It’s surprisingly easy to make and offers major wow factor when you’re hosting a party.

If you love everything chocolate and are already delving into this year’s chocolate hair trend, this is definitely the cocktail for you. It’s also easy to tweak to make it as a mocktail—just swap out the alcohol for more tea and a dash of heavy cream or coconut cream. Yum!

The Spice & Tea Exchange

The recipe calls for more chocolate chai tea than you really need for a single martini, so feel free to sip that as you whip your cocktail up. Also, we highly suggest brewing your tea in a cast iron tea pot for the richest, boldest flavor.

Ingredients

Directions

  • Combine black tea and water; cover and steep for 4 minutes. Strain and discard tea solids. Allow the tea to cool. Yields eight ounces (which means you’ll have enough for a few cocktails or for a single cocktail plus a hearty cup of tea).
  • Place agave nectar in a small shallow dish. Pour Bourbon Black Walnut Sugar into a separate dish. Dip the rim of the glass in agave nectar, then dip and twist the rim into the sugar to coat.
  • Add concentrate, vodka, and Irish cream liqueur to a cocktail shaker. Secure and shake vigorously. Strain the shaker contents into the prepared glass. Add star anise for garnish.

Gear you’ll need

  • A teapot or hot water kettle to brew your tea
  • A chic martini glass
  • A cocktail shaker
