Consent Is A Flexible Thing

Woman loses lawsuit after jury decided that “consent is not required” for Girls Gone Wild.

We’ve all been there.  You go to a party, bar, club whatever and girls go wild.  Really wild.  Tops flying off, shots out of belly buttons and everything else that happens on a normal Thursday night in college.  I mean, not me of course, but I’ve seen it. Well, this past Thursday, a jury of our peers decided that Jane Doe, as she is being called from St. Louis, didn’t need to sign consent to have her boobs shown in the Girls Gone Wild video.  According to STLToday.com, Doe who was 20 at the time, was dancing at a club when someone pulled down her top exposing her breasts while she said no!  Worse yet?  Her saying “no” is all on film!

How did this whole mess get to her attention 6 years later?!  A friend of her husband recognized her face and showed it to him.  Talk about some major awkies.  She sued the Girls Gone Wild company for $5 million dollars in damages for the Girls Gone Wild Sorority Orgy video.  Unfortunately, it took the jury “90 minutes before ruling against the woman, 26, on the third day of the trial.”  Why?!  Because apparently just being drunk and dancing at the party was enough consent.  Let this be a lesson to you girls out there that your actions can be used against you, with your written permission or not.
