Because Jellyfish Belong in Our Living Rooms

If the Darwin tank gets funded, your next pet could be a jellyfish.

Jellyfish are some of the most beautiful creatures in the sea. If you know what a Portuguese Man-o-War looks like, then you know they are also some of the most scary. A company in Belgium is looking to capitalize off the jellyfish mystique, and is looking to create an indoor tank that would allow us to keep jellyfish as pets.

The Darwin tank works because jellyfish are poor swimmers, and the inventors created a subtle ‘current’ mechanism in the tank that mimics the natural fluid movement of the ocean. The tank itself is much cutesier than normal fish tanks as you can see, and it looks like an orb of seawater in the middle of your living room.

They haven’t been funded completely just yet, but it really is only a matter of time before this becomes a reality.

Jellyfish are sticky, dangerous, and a little sexy. So basically they are the perfect pet for me.
