Have you ever stared at an empty shelf in your apartment and thought: “What in the Hell am I going to put there?” Its always a good idea to put some randomly placed books (so you look intelligent) and my favorite thing to do is go to a thrift store and just choose random books that match my color scheme. You can also put a vase or two, and perhaps a candle. Every shelf needs something more interesting though, like a figurine or statue but these things can get expensive, especially when they are made out of metal or glass (I have an amazing brass dragon in my room, but my boyfriend bought it in China for a wink and a handjob). If you are budget-savvy, one way to get around spending a butt-ton of money is to make your own figurines. The animals above are regular childrens toys bought at a department store, but when you paint them in a metallic or matte finish they become works of art.
