Groomed Simple

Written by Bryce

Simple grooming for men is the name of the Spring 2014 game.

I hate to say it, but the beard trend is WAY over. I mean, if 2013 was a good year for you, please–by all means, continue to rock the scruffy beard with a flannel as a commemorative measure. In the event you or the dude in your life likes being progressive, consider a new look.

1. All those woodsy scents are done. Try something really crisp like Lacoste Vert. It pairs well with most shaving creams (yeah, shaving is a must this season) and offers long-lasting wear. Available here.

2. Brush it all into place. Seriously, no scraggly hairs. Get a good brush that keeps it all in order. This one, by Cricket, will do just that. Paddle brush here.

3. Speaking of hair… Make sure your scalp is just as clean as your face will be– and that means shiny hair without flakes. Try a scalp-nourishing shampoo formula like this one by Clear to avoid flakes, and keep your strands growing in silky smooth from root to tip. Available everywhere.

4. Deep clean your pores. If your face is shaved, you’ll need to do something about those pores. This mask by Origins is specially formulated for men’s skin and will de-gunkify you in a jiffy (and can easily be shared with the woman in your life). Available here.

5. Perhaps the most urgent matter. Since you’ll be shaving down to clean-gentleman status, you’ll want to use a premium cream, right? Right. The Art of Shaving is called that for a reason, you know. Their unscented signature cream is the kind of men’s luxe product that’s worth the splurge– every shave at home will feel like you’re sitting back in a barber’s chair with the scents of old money and and happiness wafting through the air. Win. Available here.
