How to Wear a Textured Bob

Written by Allison

Textured bob styles are everywhere right now. Here’s how to get the look:

Having straight, listless, lifeless hair is a total bummer. Now, if it were the ’90s I could wake up every day, comb my hair, pluck wayward brows and be hot to trot in no time flat. But right now? The textured bob is in (but cute bob hairstyles in general are having a major moment). As much as I love having a nice curl to my hair I know that daily or every other day applications of heat isn’t ideal. Eventually I’d like hair longer than a bob and it won’t get there with heat damage. So to create the illusion of a textured bob I turn to hair styling products.

Creating a textured bob is simple and you only need two products.

First things first applying the Oribe Matte Waves Texture Lotion to freshly washed hair. It gives you salt spray hair without the gross, crunchy feeling. And it’s UV protecting too, as a little bonus.

I applied a couple small pumps to the ends of my hair and worked upwards before letting air dry completely. I did blow dry my bangs because textured bangs? Not my jam. This alone could give you the textured bob of your dreams. It certainly does give me more volume, texture, and grit, but I want even more.

When my hair is totally dry I scrunch in a healthy dose of the also Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray. This does two things, it adds the shine I want, and gives a sexier, tousled vibe. It admittedly sounds similar to the previous product but it adds a little shine and helps to make the hair less goofy and more purposely styled looking.

Alone each of these products almost get the job done, but together they create a little bit of beachy, tousled magic (which is great if you’re the hardly-brush-your-hair type)
