Labor Day Must-Pack List

Written by Bryce

Labor Day Weekend signifies the unofficial official end to the Summer season. Girls, it’s over. When you return from this final epic weekend of 2013, it’ll be time to break out cardigans, deeper lipsticks, and pack away the swimsuits (unless you live in fabulous Miami or LA, in which case, you win the game of life).

Here’s the gear you’ll need for a perfect final farewell to summer, but definitely not any level of goodbye to your flawless beauty and style routines:

1. Pack everything into the right travel case. This giant metallic train case by Soho will fit all your essentials (even your jewelry), protect your best bronzers from any level of damage, and scream “I’m the girl you don’t want to mess with” upon arrival at your beach house. If you’re shacking up with a bunch of outdoorsy types, it’ll also double as an emergency tackle box for impromptu fishing trips. AND I found it on sale for $36 at Ulta, here.

2. Blisters? No, thanks. Since you’ll obviously be breaking out your highest-heeled sandals for nighttime adventures (honestly, you won’t get away with a bright pink snakeskin 5″ sandal after this weekend, you might as well get it out of your system), you’ll need a little heel protection so you don’t leave the weekend in a haze of pain. Sole Goddess makes a heel-protecting balm that’s as easy to carry as a lip balm, but will cushion and protect all the right spots on your feet from impending heel doom. You’ll thank me later. Available here.

3. Rose gold erry’thing. Well, the good stuff anyway. I never advise packing your best jewelry for vacations (between all the sand, cocktails, and running around you’re likely to lose your best stuff), so this mega-affordable and ultra-chic Fossil watch is the traveling gal’s best friend. And it’s only $115 (I believe that’s like 1 percent of the cost of a proper rose gold ROLEX, right?), here.

4. Metallic nails. Metallic manis and pedis are SO hot for Autumn, so invest in a good mani/pedi to take you through the weekend, because you probably won’t have time for a new one by the time you get home. Make this one last through the first bit of the “real” year with a Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in any variety of silver or gold. Pack a bottle or two for touch-ups. Available everywhere.

5. Blemishes won’t stand a chance. This teeny tiny tea tree oil pen by The Body Shop is the perfect pack-it-in-every-bag-and-purse essential. It goes hard to work to spot treat blemishes in no time, flat, and won’t damage skin. I’ve used mine several times to see ugly things disappear in under 24 hours, and the company stands up to animal testing. We can all feel good about that. Available here.

6. Perfectly unique sunnies. Everyone and their mother has the same Gucci’s, Ray Ban’s, and CHANEL frames. Literally, everyone. Why not design your own custom sunglasses to reflect your personality and style? Made Eyewear lets you do just that with their online sunglasses-designing program. Pick your shape, lenses, colors, engraving, and more… all for half the price you might pay for your Gucci bag boys. Check it out, here.
