Music Spotting: The Boss is Back

We are dancing in the dark to Bruce Springsteen’s new album Wrecking Ball

I usually begin my music posts with a brief introduction about the artist. I believe this artists needs no further introduction. Ladies and gentleman, the iconic, the one and only, the boss. Mr. Bruce Springsteen. I cannot explain how happy I am that one of the most important musicians of our time has come out with a new album. What gets me even more excited is that he is doing a world tour and he will be playing in New York City on two different nights in April at Madison Square Garden. My mom, (probably one of the greatest Springsteen fans around) used to follow him all over the country when she was in college, so she is going to be my perfect date for the concert. I have to start hitting up the thrift stores now to try to find the perfect vintage Bruce t-shirt.

Enough about me. Lets talk music! This clip above is obviously brilliant, as it is Bruce’s new music video for the song, We Take Care of Our Own. It’s legendary. Yes his skin has aged with time and rock and roll will do that to anyone, but his leathers, his guitar, his sound is the same. When I hear it, I get the same feeling as when I listen to Dancing in the Dark, Thunder Road, and Born to Run. We have to appreciate that and not downgrade the fact that one of our rock legends is actually continuing  to make good unbelievable music. There are so many musicians who rocked it in the 1970s and 1980s, and when they try to put out a modern day record it just doesn’t even compare to their previous classic songs. This record takes us back to the days of Born In the U.S.A. Bruce Springsteen has stayed true to his classic, rugged, dirty, sexy, All-American-Boy look that we loved decades ago and still dream about today.
