A Mexican artist has re-invented Pokemon as Pokemayans.
Unless you have been living under a rock, you have seen the newest evidence of the impending zombie apocalypse, Pokemon Go. For some ungodly reason, Pokemon have made a recent resurgence in popular culture, and artists everywhere are taking note.
Mexican illustrator Mona Robles is one such artist, and has used her aesthetic to transform the monsters into Mayan versions of themselves.

As you may know, Pokemon have a distinct Japanese style, so evolving them into Mayan counterparts is a unique way to depict the monsters.
Robles also hopes to create a videogame based on Mayan Myths, so hopefully her foray into Pokemon will help with that.
