The more time goes by, the more I realize how important it is to have friends with whom you can be honest, and who can give the honesty right back to you. It may seem a little harsh and jarring at first, but it always works out for the best.
I cherish a friend who can take one look at my outfit and say, “What was it that Coco Chanel said? Something about taking off one item or something? What I’m saying is, don’t wear that.”
I love when you can say to your friend, “The skinnier you get, the worse your attitude gets.”
A good friend is one who keeps you in check when you mention you want to go on a meal replacement shake diet by saying, “Go ahead and do it if you want to lose weight like an uneducated suburban teen mom.”
All of these are real instances that I have witnessed amongst true friends, which further solidifies my belief that honesty is key to a productive and lasting friendship.
