Having spent most of my highschool & college career making money in the lifeguarding/bartending world, you can imagine that my skin- via sun and whiskey exposure-has taken a beating! I now use beauty treatments to reverse the sign of ever emerging crows feet & worry lines, as well as help to prevent these lines from forming canyon like valleys in my now youthful and rosy ( thanks to blush) cheeks.
If you are way past the preventative process…there are still some beauty products that can help to temporarily plump lines- but these measures are usually more masking and filling from the OUTSIDE, rather than treating your wrinkles beneath the skin….
This is where fillers come in! Although I am not ready to take this step, I had a sit down with Dr. Alan Bienstock– Plastic Surgeon and Anti-Aging Expert to Celebs and Socialites of NYC and beyond.
I had some questions about this Restylane filler I’ve been hearing about…You know you’ve been wondering too, people!
What is Restylane?
Approved by the FDA, Restylane ( composed of hyaluronic acid) is designed to smooth wrinkles, sculpt lips, and shape facial contours. With their unique ability to bind with water, these fillers can last for up to 6 months or longer in the skin. The hyaluronic acid found in these fillers is not of animal or human origin which means that there is no risk of disease transmittal or allergic reaction, which you might find in other cosmetic fillers. There is no need for skin tests and the risk of side effects is very low.
What can Restylane fix?
What can’t it fix?!
•   Tear trough deformity and hollowed out eyes which cause tired and aged appearance
•   Worry lines that run across the forehead
•   Crow’s feet at the corner of the eyes
•   Frown lines that run between the eyebrows
•   Smoker’s lines which are vertical lines on the mouth
•   Marionette lines at the corner of the mouth
•   Deep smile lines that run from side of the nose to corners of the mouth
•   Cheek depressions
•   Redefining lip border and providing lip volume/shape
•   Acne scars
•   Some facial scars
•   Small lips for lip augmentation
Any other info?
Compared to Juvederm, Restylane can be injected safely in the office with local numbing creams and under local anesthesia.
