Stop Washing Your Face Already

Written by Lana

I was a little skeptical when I first saw Liz Earle’s Naturally Active Cleanse & Polish men’s face cleaner for two reasons:

1. I generally like harsh and abrasive chemicals (I get a great high off the ammonia fumes when I clean).

2. I was sure this creamy looking cleanser would not really clean my face, just leave it greasy and gross feeling. Since my skin is oily to begin with and exceptionally breakout prone, in a few days surely my face would look like a war zone.

Unusually, I was wrong. It was actually not greasy at all and the eucalyptus was cooling and gave it a clean smell. You don’t wash your face with this per se, like you would a normal soap. Instead, you “message” it onto your face dry and wipe it of with a just-damp muslin cloth, which is a little bit rough for exfoliation. You rinse and repeat a few times and when it’s all over you feel soft and healthy and your skin has a nice matt luster to it.

It’s very different then anything I have used before and did take some getting used to. I have been using it for a few weeks now though, and surprisingly my skin is clearer then it has been in a long time. I think I’ve finally found the replacement for my $3 Duane Reade face wash

Don’t forget, if you’re like me and you pay your power bill more frequently then you do your laundry, get a few extra cloths, too (the starter kit comes with two).

P.S. If your a woman, they also sell it is a less masculine blue and silver bottle.

  • Funny – I get high off the ammonia fumes when you clean too! (It’s so much cheaper that way though).
