Style Spotting: How to Dress for Cold Weather

Oh baby it’s cold outside! 5 tips on how to dress for cold weather!

Oh baby it’s cold outside! It’s December, so if you find yourself in the Northern hemisphere, you have probably already noticed the drop in temperature – and it’s only getting colder baby! So, take some advice from somebody who grew up in the arctic frontier of Alaska – five tips on how to stay warm and still look cool:

1. Jeans are stylish, but they’re also freezing cold against your skin – be sure to slip on a pair of long underwear or even a pair of tights or leggings, just to create a barrier between your jean and your skin.

2. So many people forget that even though you’ve got a full head of hair, you lose a ton of heat out of the top of your head – wear a hat! With all the stylish options out there, I don’t see how you can resist in the first place!

* Bonus Tip: While we’re talking about the head region, be sure to remove all earrings and piercings as the metal on your skin will only intensify the freezing cold.

3. Tuck in your shirt. Even if the boho-chic style works for your look, it’s not so practical to have a big billowing shirt go un-tucked – the cold air will be able to creep up in a draft.

4. Make a nice warm, thick, cozy scarf your best friend. By wrapping up with a scarf, you block cold air from sneaking in through the opening of your coat. And just like the hats, scarves are SO IN RIGHT NOW, and there are so many cute choices out there to choose from!

5. When all else fails, drink – whether it’s hot chocolate, hot tea, hot coffee, or an alcoholic beverage (only if you’re 21+ 😉 ): the hot liquids will warm you from the inside, and alcohol makes capillaries in your skin expand, keeping you warmer.
