Maybe I’m biased because I actually have a kid, but the last I checked it’s pretty effing wrong to go around selling babies. I suppose in the era of eBay and craigslist.org it was bound to happen. Last year an Australian man sold his whole life (house, car, friends… everything except his passport) for $7,500 on eBay.
Obviously the Chinese one-upped the Aussies. A man in Zhangsu tried selling his niece online last week. He placed an ad on the online store taobao.com in an effort to sell the little girl.
The ad was for the actual baby, and forgive me for sounding crass, but I’m pretty sure a bunch of American adopter-hopefuls would’ve hopped on board… this kid is pretty cute. And the bidding started at just Â¥1, with shipping included. I wonder if international shipping was included?
Mr. Hu, the asshole uncle who placed the ad, explained that he was ready to sell the little girl off to the highest bidder, “because we want a boy, therefore we decided to give her away to family of fate.”  …little boys piss on things, he’ll pay for that later I guess.
The ad goes on to describe that the little girl’s father has good health, is college educated, and the mother has fair skin and big eyes. Mr. Hu says “kid’s also got the big eyes, ” and “very cute.” The ad ends with stating that sincere buyers can also meet the girl in person before purchasing.
It’s a shame that taobao.com shut down the whole sale and suspended Mr. Hu’s account, because I was ready to add this cute little nugget to my baby farm.
…other inappropriate things to do with Chinese babies?
the wee baby-in-a-ring in the bottom left corner has to be the cutest baby ever-in-a-ring.
This guy should be shot. Period. Actually, let me take that back. He should be kicked by a mob of angry, stiletto-clads Manhattanites. What a monster.

That is one of most ridiculous things ever. Is anyone else wondering how he was planning on ‘shipping’ the baby?
Only in asia..As for your question Danielle.. DHL second day air.. as next day air cost way too much.
This is so sad, I can’t even imagine someone thinking that putting your baby up on a site is ok – these are not iPods, and laptops for sale since you’re getting a new one for your birthday!
I think Michelin baby should be auditioning for the next biggest loser babies.
This reminds me of when I go to canal street, and to mess with the booteggers trying to sell me “prada, Chanel, Louie V, and rolex movado watches: I counter offer by telling them I have babies for sale.
I get some interesting looks to say the least, try it next time, it’s fun for the whole family!!!
Luxury spot dot com is the bomb!
i am worried about what will happen to this kid now that this fell through. are there child protection services in china?
I know that this sounds really weird to you all but it is not so weird to me (I’m Chinese). Luckily my mother escaped the one child rule in China and escaped to Canada. She was pregnant on the plane! I think I am a great addition to the planet and glad she got to keep me lol!!!
Please note that tons of babies are euthanized/aborted because of China’s one boy a family law. You would never ever see a boy for sale on a website. In the Chinese culture it is completely unacceptable to shun a family member. Notice how 4 generations live in one household?
I would blame this on the government, not the family. Better off sold on Ebay than put to death by lethal injection right?
