Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (we used skim, but you can use any type you like)
  • 2 1/2 tbsp Nutella
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch salt (really, just a tiny pinch!)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp sugar (it's better to use powdered sugar, but table sugar works just fine as well)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a small sauce pan over low-medium heat, whisk all ingredients together until well blended and hot (but not boiling)
  • Pour in a cup and top with homemade whipped cream and shaved chocolate

For whipped cream

  • Place a medium bowl and your beaters from your electric mixer in the freezer for 10 minutes (this helps the whipped cream stiffen faster and is a brilliant tip everyone should know)
  • Pour heavy cream, sugar and vanilla extract into a bowl and begin to beat
  • Whip for two to three minutes depending on the strength and speed of your beaters—when the cream forms frothy peaks, it's done. It's important not to overbeat because you want this to sort of melt in a cloud-like way.
