This is the best and easiest Nutella hot chocolate recipe ever.

I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again, Nutella is the perfect snack—especially when it’s sippable. And this easy Nutella hot chocolate recipe makes it more perfect. Enjoy with a side of pecan bites or more Nutella (Nutella zeppole).

Whip up a batch as the weather starts to feel crisp or reserve it for a lazy weekend movie marathon. It’s absolutely delicious and easily going to be one of your new favorite special treats.

Ingredients

Nutella Hot Chocolate

  • 1 cup milk (I use skim, but you can make this even richer with whole milk or anything in between)
  • 2½ Tbsp Nutella
  • 1 Tbsp Cocoa
  • Tiny pinch of salt

Homemade Whipped Cream

  • 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a small sauce pan over low-medium heat, whisk all ingredients together until well blended and hot (but not boiling)
  • Pour in a cup and top with homemade whipped cream and shaved chocolate

For whipped cream

  • Place a medium bowl and your beaters from your electric mixer in the freezer for 10 minutes (this helps the whipped cream stiffen faster and is a brilliant tip everyone should know)
  • Pour heavy cream, sugar and vanilla extract into a bowl and begin to beat on medium speed. You’ll start to see peaks forming.
  • Whip for two to three minutes depending on the strength and speed of your beaters—when the cream forms frothy peaks, it’s done. It’s important not to overbeat because you want this to sort of melt in a cloud-like way.
