The unknown dangers of eating packaged foods you need to read about:
You’d be amazed at all the unnecessary chemicals and ingredients that go into your packaged foods! Packaged food has been cooked, treated, and processed to the point that it barely resembles the real, raw ingredients that it once was. Eating packaged foods is usually pretty unhealthy, and eating a lot of it can cause serious damage to your body.
Here are a few unknown dangers of eating packaged foods:
- Diabetes — Worried about developing diabetes? If so, stay away from packaged foods! Packaged foods tend to be highly processed, which often means eliminating all or most of the fiber from the original raw food. Without fiber, there’s nothing to slow your body’s absorption of carbs. The faster the carbs are absorbed, the more they affect your blood sugar levels. Chronically high blood sugar levels can lead to insulin resistance, which can turn into diabetes.
- Cancer –– As if you needed something else that could cause cancer! Most packaged food has been processed using chemicals, or contain ingredients that are artificial. There are a lot of these chemicals and ingredients that are known carcinogens, increasing your risk of cancer with every bite!
- Hypertension –– Did you know that most packaged foods are VERY high in sodium? Sodium helps to add flavor to the food, but also keep the food from spoiling. When you eat a lot of sodium, it causes your body to retain water. This in turn forces your heart to work double time, leading to high blood pressure–a potentially serious heart disorder!

- Nutrient Deficiencies –– When you eat fruits, veggies, whole grains, nuts, and seeds, you give your body the nutrients it needs to function properly. We’re talking vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, antioxidants, fiber, and the list goes on. But when the food is processed, these nutrients are usually destroyed or leeched out of the food. People who eat a lot of packaged food tend to have poor health, thanks to a lack of nutrients.
- Heart disease — When you eat packaged foods, you’ll find that they tend to be fairly high in trans fats. Trans fats are chemically created fats, the kind your body cannot process and cannot be used for any useful purposes. Trans fats float around in your bloodstream, clogging up your arteries and increasing your total cholesterol levels. Too much cholesterol, and you can start to suffer from serious heart problems, possibly even a full blown stroke or heart attack!
- Obesity –– It should go without saying that packaged foods are a major contributor to obesity. Not only are these packaged foods low in nutrients, but they tend to be higher in calories than their non-packaged counterparts. The addition of “extras” that provide flavor and color definitely don’t help, and the result is high calorie foods that don’t fill you up properly (not like fiber can). The more you eat, the more you want to eat. Too many calories, and you’ve got a weight problem!
- More health problems –– The truth is that many of the chemicals and artificial ingredients added into your food are still fairly new, so the FDA and manufacturers aren’t certain what they do to your body. You can be pretty sure that they will contribute to the many health problems you are facing, and they’ll reduce your overall health. The more artificial and chemical ingredients a food has, the worse it is for your health!
Be smart, and avoid packaged foods like the plague!
