“I tried to deliver a lady-like woman meets futuristic architectural shapes that take it to next level combination,” said Argentinian fashion designer Victor de Souza when asked to describe the aesthetic of his latest collection for Spring/Summer 2012. De Souza certainly accomplished his goal, and created a stunning collection of clean lines, architectural shapes, feminine whimsy, and tactile interest, all within a restrained yet refined pastel palette of dusty pinks, sandy stones, and seafoam greens.
At first glance, the overall impression of the collection reads prom aboard the Starship Voyager. However, after further reflection, de Souza’s delicate, graceful, and feminine approach paired with strong architectural cuts and masculine undertones give his work fluidity and depth – pieces are simultaneously strong and fragile, and explore the unknown, making this designer’s collections perfectly tailed to the dynamic and multifaceted lifestyle of the modern woman.
