In a PR move that a website no one’s heard of can’t afford to make, BeautifulPeople.com got rid of 30,000 users that didn’t meet the site’s standards. According to MSNBC, a carefully crafted email informed the users (4,500 of whom had paid the subscription fee) that a virus planted by a disgruntled ex-employee had granted them access. The “problem” has now been “corrected,” and the uglies gotta go.
Despite this breach in security, the site claims they’re “investigating internally” and do not find it necessary to hire a security firm. So – heartless, shallow dating website? Or heartless, shallow publicity stunt?
Genius…create a dating site for only people who don’t need a dating site. There’s no way this could fail.
Well the site is called BeautifulPeople.com, so you can expect a certain amount of shallowness.
