FREE Movies in Bryant Park!

Written by Linda

The Bryant Park FREE Movies in the Park schedule is finally here! And this year they’re definitely going quirky-classic.

The movies are shown on Monday, starting at dusk, usually between eight and nine. The lawn opens at five for blankets. This year’s roster includes, “The Sting,” “Dog Day Afternoon” and “The Defiant Ones.”

Especially noteworthy is an early blockbuster by Meryl Streep. Before she opened a place on a Greek Isle, wore Prada, decided to brain wash her son to achieve political glory and even before Sophie had to make a choice she played a mom who needed to “find herself,” in the critically acclaimed Kramer vs. Kramer. The definition of finding one’s self in this film is running off to California and leaving your child to be raised by Dustin Hoffman.

Another film not to be missed for fans of Mary Kate Letourneau and Vili Fualaau is Harold and Maude. Ok so Harold isn’t exactly 12. And Maude, well Maude is beyond ancient. Still, if creepy-quirky love stories are your thing this is the film for you.
