In this day and age, with the state of marriage being what it is, it is very important to be a good wife. Since more than half of heterosexual marriages end in divorce, I think perhaps it is time to re-evaluate who we are being for our spouses.
For instance, would it kill you to give an after-dinner blowjob every night? Hardly. I do that anyway and I am not even married. Would it be so bad to wear makeup to bed so you wake up looking as fresh and beautiful as a spring flower that got rained on and stung by a bee? It might ruin your skin, but that’s the good thing about makeup- it covers up what you really look like so your husband can have the wife of his fantasies. Is it so hard to fathom cooking a home-made meal for dinner every night, doing the laundry of your entire family, and keeping a household so spotless you could drink out of the toilet? Hardly.
There is a reason that marriages were more successful in the past (such as the 1930’s), and it isn’t because a husband was legally allowed to kill his wife (I think, but I don’t care enough to google). Women used to take the role of being a wife seriously, and they didn’t let pithy, insignificant things like careers and equality get in their way.
