Dating when you are a parent is hard. I know this, because I have seen my friends and sisters trying to balance their love life with their husbands against the difficulties of raising a baby, and failing miserably. The only one I know who does this well is Bryce, who high-fives me every time she sneaks in a love-making session between bouts of breastfeeding. So for all the mothers out there that just want a little loving, I have compiled a list of 5 date ideas to keep the romance alive when you are surrounded by babies:
1. Arrange a play date with other parents you trust. Drop the kids off. Go straight home and have sex.
2. Put the kids to bed early, but leave their windows open so you can hear them in case they are being murdered. Build a love-shack in your backyard with pillows, sheets, and lights. Get drunk with your husband while still within earshot of your kids.
3.Go on a family bike-ride in a park where there are no cars. While your kids rush ahead, hang back and reconnect with your guy by discussing adult things.
4.Take a walk. Put the kids to bed, grab some wine, and take a leisurely stroll around your neighborhood. If your hood is small enough you can even bring a baby monitor with you.
5. Camp out in the living room. Set up different tents of your kids and yourselves, then watch movies and binge on popcorn and smores until they are all tuckered out. Then, make fake bodies with pillows under your blankets in case the kids wake up, and sneak off to your bedroom to have some real fun with the melted chocolate (strawberries and wine should be chilling in the bathroom sink).
