The car was recently sold to a Russian oligarch for roughly $8.3 million USD, was part of Hitler’s personal travel fleet to help get him across Nazi Germany.
The midnight blue 770 K model of Doom had been stored away in a collector’s garage in Bielefeld with seven other vehicles used by powerful Nazis.
Michael Froehlich, a car dealer in Duesseldorf said he brokered the deal for the unnamed billionaire who also bought the other vehicles in the collection.
Other vehicles in the collection included an identical Mercedes once owned by Joachim von Ribbentrop, the Nazi foreign minister who was hanged at Nuremberg for war crimes.
So, I can’t help but wonder… is this preserving history, or perpetuating an especially dark era for the human race?
If i had 8.3 mil to spend frivolously (which I do) I would buy that car, spray paint a star of david on it, and drive it around.
