When I fist saw this little guy, I thought “what a cute mutant pig!” …then I realized I had NO IDEA what the hell it actually is. Can anyone help? What is this?
I will seriously offer a prize to anyone that can name the species, it’s approximate age, and how I can get one (are they child friendly?).
It’s a mole, and no not like the one on your back. ;o)
Baby platypus. 🙂 http://www.pepeandfriends.com/blog/2009/06/cute-but-ugly/
Looks like a baby spiny ant eater to me.And I don’t think they would be good for children .
It’s a mole and I think it belongs in the wild they are very sensitive to light.
They come from Australia.
Yep Hedgehog!

It is a baby echidna, you would have to be in Australia and you can not own one in NYC (remember we can not own a wild animal and these are not domesticated and they are not for sale. I fell in love with them and wombats while in Australia. They are cute and waddle (like a lot of animals in Australia).
They are also not great for little kids – ooooh cute —-ouch spines
I have a great painting of one that I bought in the outback. You can see one at the San Diego Zoo -I don’t know if the Bronx Zoo has any.
