Tinder Fat Suit Dating

Men and women react very differently to online dating when there is a fat suit involved.

Online dating is a necessary evil. None of us want to say we do it, but we have to admit that it’s almost impossible not to, in this day and age. One third of married couples in the US met online, so I guess they must be doing something right (or wrong, depending on how you look at marriage). For all of us who have tried it though, one fact always remains scary: When you meet someone online, you have no idea how they really look.

Two guys that look like they belong in the background of a Microsoft commercial decided to do a social experiment on this, and created two videos of Tinder date meet-ups where one of the subjects wore a fat suit to see how the other would react.

Not a lot shocks me, but I found it pretty interesting that all but one of the guys bolted (some of them were even rude about it) even though the female subject was nice and funny, while all the girls stuck around and made future dates, even though the guy in the fat suit was kind a dick. Who in the fuck says they hate dogs on a first date?

The refreshing part was that almost everyone mentioned that the subjects didn’t look like their photos, so at least there was some honesty involved.

With online dating we have the opportunity to date as much or as little as we want (adjusting our standards accordingly), so at least we have developed the ability to be honest with strangers, which is one good thing.

I am still pretty flabbergasted about how we have the technology to meet strangers based on GPS proximity, but we can’t develop a realistic looking fat suit, but that’s another rant entirely.
