Bryce Gruber’s Thoughts of the Day (spiritual Tuesday edition)

Written by Bryce

Life philosophy & cheese.

Today was a beautiful day in my eyes… I got a lot accomplished, saw friends and colleagues, and was challenged in new ways.

1) Is Being Content Really Good?: I go to a philosophy class every Tuesday night that’s really enhanced my perspective on life, love, and general appreciation.  Tonight we were asked to identify one area of our lives that brings us down.  Each student shared their issue with the class. Common answers were “I look for validation,” or “I’m materialistic.”  I realized by the time it was my turn that I was actually pretty content.  That’s not to say that I can’t be working harder- but I love my son, I love my work, I love my friends, and in general I’m grateful for the beautiful things in life.  The teacher made a point of expressing that my being content was actually a red flag.  I need to work hard, and I should never be satisfied because that’s when personal and spiritual growth stops.  Hmm. Back to the emotional and philosophical drawing board I guess?

2) Smoked Gouda is Effing Amazing. In the past 4 days I’ve found endless ways to use sliced gouda cheese and I couldn’t be happier. I’d like to write a letter of joy and thanks to the family of the brilliant human that created gouda.

3) Lingerie Doesn’t Need a Reason. I’ve decided that I’m going to start strutting around my bedroom (alone) in awesome lingerie. Why? Because I’ll never be 26 again, or have the body of a 26 year old again.  I can seduce myself.  I’m particularly fond of these (which we’re giving away free now!): Brulee Lingerie

4) I Love Rap: It’s true. Weezy, Jeezy, Jay-Z, T.I., etc. I’m not big on Rick Ross, but the rest just makes me want to pop and lock things.
