BEAUTY Fragrance

Paris… Ooh La La!

Written by Bryce

It’s been about 2 years since I was last in France, and since then my closest encounter with French things was my friendship with Vivianne… but considering the fact that she’s really Canadian, I’ve had to look for new ways to fill my French void.  Seeing as I’m a beauty nut, I wanted to take my mental Parisian vacation beyond a trip to the downtown NYC bistro that would normally satisfy me.  I wanted to feel and smell the romance of the French all over me (in a way that is pregnancy-free).  So I was pleasantly surprised when I found myself sipping champagne and blood orange juice in a Manhattan penthouse with Isabelle Masson-Mandonnaut, the original founder of Sephora, with an interpreter and a room full of deliciously Parisian scents that go by the name “crazylibellule.”

Since her departure from Sephora, Isabelle has tackled the world of fragrance ever-so-elegantly by bringing the world a collection of ultra-feminine solid fragrance sticks that are not only affordable (most are about $18), but bring memories of childhood with their push-pop like packaging.

$18 buys you a solid perfume free of synthetic dyes, parabens, sulfates, or any other junk… you just get a clean, fresh scent in stick form.  Each stick is about the size of your thumb- perfect to throw in a handbag, locker, desk drawer, or in more ordinary places like your medicine cabinet.  My personal favorite is the Lemon Pie.  It’s slightly sweet, citrusy, and leaves you smelling like you just took a fantastic shower.
