Natural Nails – BCBG Maxazria Fall 2010

Written by Corinne

I went backstage at the BCBG MAXAZRIA fashion show with a mission – to find out the nail polish colors for Fall 2010. After making my way into hair and makeup, I was able to speak to nail artist Roxanne Valinoti. The first thing she did was comment on my hot pink nails. “Wow what a color!” She exclaimed. Roxanne was holding two nail polish bottles, one a nude color and the other clear. “The colors for Fall 2010 are classic BCBG,” she began. The nude color she was holding is actually called “Puddy”, a semi sheer polish. Roxanne explained further, “Puddy goes with a lot of skin tones. All you need is one sheer coat and this fast dry top coat,” she held up the clear nail polish.

When I discovered that all of the BCBG models had their nails painted in this sheer nude color, I suddenly felt slightly out of place with my magenta manicure. I soon learned that it was not only the nail polishes going natural, but the make up as well. The look for Fall 2010 is what Roxanne described as “clean make up” – minimalistic and not a lot of elements of color. Roxanne explained that the Fall 2010 colors for make up and nails were mostly nudes, moss greens, and browns – earthy, natural tones. After talking to Roxanne, I decided maybe it was time for me to branch out from my usual pink, red, and occasional purple nail polishes and give the natural look a try.
